Head of Search (FTC - Maternity Cover)

London | Fixed-Term Contract

I'm working with one of the biggest media agencies in the UK - major, globally recognised brands, award-winning work, who need a Head of Search to come in on a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. This is a proper senior leadership role, owning PPC and SEO across the whole agency.

You'll be the person clients trust to lead Search strategy at the top table, you'll guide a genuinely brilliant team, and you'll work hand in hand with the other channel leads - Social, Programmatic, Affiliates, Digital Planning, to make sure everything joins up properly. If you're someone who's calm under pressure, confident operating at a senior level, and you care about keeping momentum, quality and culture strong through a period of change, this is for you.

The Job

  • Setting the strategy for PPC and SEO across the whole agency - making sure it's genuinely aligned to what clients need, not just ticking a box
  • Pushing the craft forward - automation, AI, measurement, technical excellence, all of it
  • Owning delivery standards across planning, activation, optimisation, testing and reporting
  • Making sure Search doesn't sit in a silo - proper integration with Programmatic, AV, Social, Digital Planning and Content
  • Getting stuck into pitches and strategic responses where senior Search expertise is needed
  • Being the senior Search voice for key clients and internal stakeholders
  • Explaining complex PPC and SEO stuff to senior audiences - boards, SLTs - in a way that actually lands
  • Working closely with Business Directors and Account Directors so communication is joined up across every Search account
  • Building real relationships with the major Search platforms and measurement partners

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
