We are seeking an experienced Head of Security to lead and develop the enterprise security capability across our client, a world-leading engineering and manufacturing organisation. This is a comprehensive, strategic security leadership role with responsibility spanning physical and protective security, personnel security, government security, security risk, insider risk, investigations, security intelligence, incident management, and organisational resilience. The successful candidate will operate at senior level as a trusted security adviser to the Executive Management Team and Board, while maintaining effective relationships with UK Government, law enforcement, and relevant security authorities.

The Role

  • Developing and implementing the company's enterprise security strategy.
  • Leading a risk-based approach to security across the organisation.
  • Providing authoritative security advice to senior management and the Board.
  • Leading security risk management, assurance, and control testing.
  • Overseeing Government and regulatory security requirements.
  • Managing physical and protective security across two sites.
  • Developing personnel security and insider-risk management.
  • Leading security investigations and serious security incidents.
  • Developing security resilience, crisis management, and response frameworks.
  • Overseeing preparedness for protest, activism, hostile reconnaissance, and disruption.
  • Working closely with Information Security & Cyber Operations to integrate physical, personnel and cyber security.
  • Leading, developing and supporting a security team.

The Person

  • Proven senior security leadership experience with strong enterprise security risk-management capability.
  • Extensive physical and protective security knowledge, including experience managing serious security incidents and investigations.
  • Experience of personnel security and insider-risk management.
  • Ability to operate confidently with Board and Executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and people-management experience, with excellent judgement, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Confidence to challenge senior stakeholders where security risks are not adequately understood or controlled.
  • Experience of Government security, UK Security Vetting, sensitive programmes, government/police liaison, security assurance and control testing would be highly advantageous.
  • A professional security qualification is desirable, but practical experience, professional judgement and leadership capability are considered equally important.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain the required Security Clearance.
