Head of SEO

£80,000–£120,000 + Performance Related Annual Bonus

Remote or Hybrid – Tangmere, West Sussex

About Us

We are the clear market leader in our sector and one of the fastest-growing car buying companies in the world. In the UK, we generate around 150,000 customer enquiries every month and facilitate the purchase of thousands of vehicles through our high-traffic websites and nationwide operations. We have now launched across the United States, with multiple states already operational and an ambitious plan to expand nationwide.

Our rapid expansion and success have been driven by outstanding people, a strong culture, and our ability to lean into the advantages of cutting-edge technology. We are not a speculative start-up. We have been established for over 15 years, are highly profitable, and have achieved this scale without external funding.

Our target is bold: we are working towards a billion-dollar valuation within the next 5 years. Along the way, we want our growth to make a positive difference to others. We have already donated over £1 million to various charities.

The Role

As Head of SEO at Scrap Car Comparison, you will take ownership of the organic growth strategy across several high-volume lead-generation websites.

This is a senior and highly hands-on role. We are looking for someone who has already demonstrated that they can deliver significant, measurable organic growth in a competitive online market, ideally within a high-volume lead-generation, marketplace, automotive or comparable consumer business.

We aren't looking for someone who can simply manage agencies, produce strategies or oversee an SEO team. We want someone who can personally identify where the biggest opportunities lie, turn those opportunities into a clear plan and work with our internal teams and external partners to deliver substantial improvements in organic traffic, enquiries and ultimately revenue.

You will join an established marketing operation including PPC, CRO, Digital PR & Outreach specialists and 4 creative content writers, with access to our Product, Development and Data teams.

Your Mission

  • Deliver substantial organic growth: Develop and execute an SEO strategy capable of materially increasing qualified organic traffic, customer enquiries and revenue.
  • Own SEO performance: Take responsibility for organic performance across our websites, identifying the biggest opportunities and prioritising activity according to commercial impact.
  • Remain hands-on: Personally investigate performance, technical issues, competitors, rankings, content, links and opportunities rather than relying solely on agencies or other team members.
  • Drive technical SEO: Work closely with our Development and Product teams to identify and implement technical improvements across large, high-traffic websites.
  • Build authority: Develop effective link-building, Digital PR and content strategies that strengthen our authority in highly competitive search markets.
  • Lead external partners: Manage and challenge SEO agencies, link builders, CRO companies and other specialist partners where they can add value.
  • Prepare for the future of search: Ensure our strategy evolves alongside changes in Google, AI-powered search, LLMs and the way consumers discover businesses online.
  • Measure commercial impact: Use data to understand what is working and translate SEO performance into customer enquiries, conversions and revenue.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
