  • Lead and develop the whole system of children’s social care.
  • Strategically develop and plan for the safeguarding needs of children and young people in order to ensure that city-wide partnerships are equipped to meet current and future demands and challenges.
  • Ensure the effective discharging of the Local Authority’s (LA) statutory duties for Safeguarding.

Interviews are to take place on 10th and 11th September 2026.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Advise on DfE emerging agendae and on other statutory issues and carry out, as required, review and development.
  • Specifically promote activities which satisfy strategic objectives for Children & Families including key targets and priorities reflected in Children and Young People’s Plan.
  • Liaise with the leaders across the spectrum of safeguarding to ensure that policy and strategy are implemented to suit local need and resources.
  • Ensure that services are appropriately prioritised, planned, delivered, monitored and evaluated in accordance with the requirements set by the range of inspection bodies.
  • Provide effective leadership to the development and coordination of all areas of services across the Directorate to ensure that statutory obligations are met.
  • Redesign and shape existing and future provisions for the Council and lead the development of initiatives that promote the Children & Families Partnership and the delivery of integrated Children’s Services.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
