This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to play a key role in shaping the future of Early Help in Bexley.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a real difference for children, young people and families and who understands the importance of getting the right support in place at the right time. This role will lead some of the most significant developments within our Families First programme, including Family Hubs, Family Time, the Therapeutic Hub and Family Led Decision Making.

You will be an experienced social work leader who can build strong relationships, bring people together around a shared vision and drive meaningful change across a complex partnership landscape. You will be equally comfortable thinking strategically and working alongside services and partners to turn ambition into delivery.

As our Head of Service, you will:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration and a strong commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Have a proven track record of leading and improving children's services, delivering high quality support and better outcomes for children and families.
  • Bring significant experience of service transformation, change management and improvement within organisations.
  • Be able to inspire, support and develop others, creating a positive culture where staff can thrive and deliver their very best work.
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding, children's social care legislation and national policy developments.
  • Demonstrate excellent partnership working skills and the ability to work collaboratively across education, health, police, voluntary and community sector organisations.
  • Be confident in managing performance, resources and budgets while maintaining a focus on quality and impact.
  • Champion equality, diversity, inclusion and anti-racist practice and ensure the voices of children, young people and families remain at the heart of service development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
