Head of Service – Landlord Compliance & Building Safety
MMP are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Service – Landlord Compliance & Building Safety to lead the delivery of compliance, building safety and assurance across a large residential housing portfolio.
Location: Bristol
Rate: £500 a day
Interim
This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, resident safety and regulatory assurance across all areas of landlord compliance, including fire safety, gas, electrical, asbestos, legionella and building safety. The successful candidate will drive service excellence, lead high-performing teams and ensure the organisation remains fully compliant in an evolving regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee landlord compliance and building safety services across residential housing stock.
- Develop and implement strategic plans, policies and procedures relating to asset safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure full compliance across key safety disciplines including Fire Safety, Gas, Electrical, Legionella, Asbestos, LOLER, Damp & Mould and Building Safety requirements.
- Lead on regulatory inspections, audits and assurance activities.
- Deliver compliance programmes on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
- Manage and develop specialist compliance teams, providing strong leadership and direction.
- Drive resident engagement and ensure customer feedback informs service improvements.
- Develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, regulators and partner organisations.
- Monitor service performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with current and emerging legislation, regulation and industry best practice.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant senior leadership experience within housing, property services, compliance or building safety.
- Extensive knowledge of landlord compliance legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading large-scale compliance, safety and assurance programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level.
- Proven experience managing budgets, resources and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience preparing for and responding to regulatory inspections.
- A strong commitment to resident safety, service excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Professional Memberships
Ideally, you will hold one or more of the following:
- Degree in a Built Environment related discipline.
- Level 4/5 Fire Risk Management qualification.
- CIOB Level 6 Building Safety qualification.
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as CIOB, IOSH, IFE, IFSM, IIRSM or RICS.
