Reports to: Operations Director – Network Access Products

Role Overview

The Head of Site Operations position will be a strategic leadership position responsible for leading all the manufacturing and operating sites across Network Access Products to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality and best in class manufacturing performance. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, efficiency and profitability. The role will lead all operating locations across the NAP businesses, providing leadership and direction to each of its locations Site Operations Managers. The role will be supported by central support functions across Projects, Assets, Logistics, Finance, Planning and Human Resources to ensure strong performance and future ready strategic activities are delivered.

What our new ‘Head of Site Operations’ will be doing:

  • Lead all safety plans, improvements and initiatives at site level across all NAP locations, further developing a safety-first culture for all sites, partnering with the Managing Director, Operations Director, SHEQ Director and Health & Safety Manager to ensure robust improvement plans are in place across all systems and processes in our manufacturing environment.
  • Lead a team of experienced Operations Managers to oversee day-to-day operations of our Cubis Systems & NAL operating locations within Network Access Products, ensuring best in class safety, performance and quality of our people and products.
  • Full P&L responsibility for developing and delivering within the NAP operations budget, delivering cost saving programmes without compromising on safety or quality.
  • Translate business strategy into site level operational strategy and planning priorities aligned to business objectives through continuous improvements initiatives to maximise productivity and reduce cost.
  • Partner with the S&OP process owner to balance demand, capacity, labour, materials and equipment across the manufacturing base
  • Set and monitor operational KPI’s to drive production efficiency and cost control across the company’s operating locations, particularly those linked to delivery performance across the NAP operations.
  • Lead and project manage future site optimisation projects across the business, delivering within budget and scope.
  • Ensure product availability for own manufacturing and 3rd party suppliers, and intercompany sources across all NAP sites.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director and Head of Assets & Projects to design a LEAN Strategy across NAP, ensuring its careful implementation at site level to ensure a continuous improvement culture at all levels of the site operations.
  • Drive standardisation and best practise across all strategic operational programmes within NAP.
  • Partner with the Health & Safety Manager NAP, Q&E Manager IPE and SHEQ Director IPE to ensure the management of all safety, quality and environmental standards and accreditations are maintained.
  • Partner with the Head of Projects & Assets, and their teams during capital investment and automation projects to ensure safe and successful implementation and control.
  • Partner with the HR & Talent Director and Managing Director to ensure appropriate succession plans are in place for their role, using a suite of formal programmes within CRH, and informal mentoring techniques.
  • Partner with the Sales Director, Sales & Operations Planning Manager, Head of Logistics and wider Commercial Team to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, in full.
  • Partner with IT & Business Systems team to develop automation and digital solutions which drive improved efficiency in all areas of performance, staying ahead of industry trends and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director, HR & Talent Director, SHEQ Director and Managing Director to ensure all relevant laws and policies are adhered to.
  • Develop an operational culture to drive safety, quality, accountability and innovation across all sites, while maintaining a customer centric focus.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Site Operations Managers and their teams, ensuring they, and their teams have appropriate support, resource and future workforce planning programmes in place.
  • Participate in CRH Group best practice sessions and develop a network to drive benefits of OneCRH.
  • Lead operational integrations & due diligence projects during acquisitions, as required.
  • Daily, weekly and formal monthly reporting to Senior Leadership Team, acting as a key stakeholder between operations and Senior Leadership.

  • Degree education in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management or related field.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing large, complex budgets.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, project & change management skills.
  • Ability to think and work strategically while willing to support hands on through operational management teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making competencies.
  • Must be flexible to travel across the UK & Ireland frequently, and at times, within Europe or globally, as required.
  • Significant experience in an Operational Leadership position within a fast-paced, high growth, multi-sited manufacturing environment
  • Significant experience leading safety projects across multiple operating locations.
  • Strong track record of delivering operational excellence and cost improvement projects, with vast experience in setting and measuring KPI’s, metrics, best practices assessments and performance management techniques.
  • Substantial experience in developing and delivering plans to increase manufacturing capacity and improve deliver performance, with a track record of managing organisational change.
