Head of Social Media
London | Full-time, permanent
Magnetix is proud to partner with one of the most respected names in beauty, a brand built on genuine artistry, decades of expertise, and a loyal global community who trust its taste completely. As the brand enters its next exciting phase of growth, we're looking for a Head of Social Media, a true 360 social operator who can own strategy end-to-end and still get hands-on in the edit. Someone who loves beauty, understands why a colour story or a technique matters, and wants to help that passion connect with people across every platform: Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, through to Facebook, Reddit, Rednote and whatever comes next.
A quick note on fit: this is not an influencer marketing or influencer-strategy role. It's a full social media management role — you'll be planning, briefing, filming, editing, publishing, testing and optimising content yourself, on top of setting the strategy. If your background is purely in managing influencer partnerships or campaigns rather than running a brand's own channels, this isn't the right fit.
The role
This role blends creative and strategic ownership of the brand's content world with genuinely hands-on craft. You'll work in close, daily partnership with the brand's Founder and Creative Director, helping bring her vision to life across long-form editorial, fast-moving short-form social, elevated brand and product storytelling, and paid, while also personally shaping, filming, editing and posting content yourself.
You'll work with the Founder to build both the short-term (weekly/monthly) and longer-term (quarterly) social strategy, and with the Production Manager to bring bigger content ideas to life. But you won't rely on others to move fast — you're confident enough in Premiere, CapCut or similar to cut and publish a trend-worthy Reel or TikTok yourself, same day, when the moment calls for it.
It's a role with a real and rewarding nuance. The Creative Director is also the face of the brand, so this isn't about carving out your own creative identity, it's about a deep, genuine appreciation for someone else's artistry, and the skill to bring it to life with consistency, care and craft, whether that's a quarterly campaign or today's Reel. You'll move comfortably between calm, considered planning and fast, instinctive, in-the-moment execution, and you'll know when a decision needs the Creative Director's eye, rather than assuming.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll be supported by a Production Manager, freelance content creator and a researcher, whose work you'll guide and shape.
What you'll be doing
Strategy & planning
- Work with the Founder to set both short-term (weekly/monthly) and long-term (quarterly) social strategy across IG, TikTok, YouTube and beyond
- Own the monthly and quarterly content planning process, including production scheduling and review, working closely with the Production Manager
- Lead the weekly team catch-up and monthly planning cycle, keeping everyone aligned and inspired
- Write and deliver the weekly organic social brief
Hands-on content
- Personally shoot, edit and post content yourself — you need to be quick and confident on trends, not reliant on a production team to react in the moment
- Guide and support a freelance content creator and a researcher, helping shape their work to the brief
- Stay close to trends and culture, and know when and how the brand should join the conversation, often same-day
- Spot opportunities to give long-form or brand content a second life across other pillars (long-form to short-form, and back again)
Analytics & commercial performance
- Track and measure what's working post by post — reach, retention, engagement, conversion — and bring that insight back into planning
- Run A/B tests on hooks, formats and posting approaches, and use the results to sharpen the content strategy
- Get into the comments and DMs to understand what the community actually wants, not just what performs
- Own social's role in the customer journey — think commercially about how content turns followers into customers, not just views into likes
- Adapt organic content for paid media where relevant: cutdowns, hook variations, performance creative

What we're looking for
Essential
- A genuine passion for beauty and make-up — you understand technique, texture and trends, and why they matter to the people who follow this brand
- Solid experience running a brand's own social channels (not managing influencer campaigns or partnerships) — ideally within beauty, fashion, luxury or a closely adjacent world
- A proven "Head of Social" or senior social media manager skillset: someone equally comfortable setting strategy and doing the day-to-day posting, filming and editing
- Genuine, current, hands-on experience creating content across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok — a portfolio of platform-native work you made or directed yourself
- Confident, current video editing skills, with the ability to cut a Reel or TikTok quickly and beautifully, without waiting on a production team
- Commercially minded — comfortable using data, A/B testing and community feedback to shape decisions, and thinking about how social content drives sales, not just engagement
- Experience working within a founder-led business, ideally one going through an exciting period of growth
- Experience guiding freelance creators, researchers or similar support roles
- Warm, clear communication, the ability to turn creative direction into a brief people love working from, and to write captions, hooks and scripts with real personality
- Comfort moving between big-picture planning and rolling your sleeves up day to day
Highly desirable
- Experience working directly alongside a founder or creative director who is the face of their brand
- Confidence using analytics platforms (native + third-party) to inform creative decisions
- A true eye for detail — you notice when something looks slightly off, and you care enough to fix it
Salary: £65,000–£80,000 depending on experience, plus benefits
