The Satcom team is responsible for the design, delivery and performance of Open Cosmos’ satellite communications services, spanning the space segment, ground infrastructure and global connectivity.

What will you be doing?

You’ll sit at the centre of our Satcom capability, acting as the technical authority across cloud, software, and platform engineering.

At a high level, you will:

  • Define and own the technical roadmap for cloud infrastructure and software platforms
  • Lead the design of CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks
  • Build scalable, secure, and resilient platforms supporting satellite networks
  • Oversee mission-critical tooling, cloud environments, and automation pipelines
  • Enable end-to-end connectivity performance through robust systems and infrastructure

This role connects deeply across the business, bridging product, engineering, and operations.

You will:

  • Deliver platforms used by NetOps and mission operations teams (NOC tooling, telemetry, capacity planning)
  • Enable system simulation and validation through virtualised environments (e.g. digital twins)
  • Support commercial service delivery, including APIs, provisioning, and billing integrations
  • Ensure seamless transition from build → test → live operations

What You’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who can operate strategically and stay close enough to the tech to make the right decisions.

You’ll have:

  • Strong technical leadership across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering
  • Deep expertise in scalable cloud environments (AWS or GCP), containerisation, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Helm)
  • Advanced capability in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and GitOps workflows
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, real-time data processing, and networked platforms
  • Strong grasp of cloud and network security, identity and access management, and secure infrastructure design
  • Deep understanding of scalability, resilience, monitoring, and operational reliability in production environments
