About Quantum Base
Quantum Base exists to make quantum science useful. Founded at Lancaster University in 2015 by Professor Robert Young, we have spent a decade solving a problem the security industry had accepted as unsolvable: authentication that is impossible to copy, clone or fake, yet simple enough for anyone to use.
Our core technology, Q-ID®, is an authentication fingerprint built on quantum physics that anyone can authenticate in under three seconds with the smartphone already in their pocket. Impossibly simple. Atomically secure.
Q-ID® is protected by more than 40 patents, has undergone independent adversarial testing, and is already protecting around two billion products worldwide across tax stamps, pharmaceuticals, alcohol, luxury goods, FMCG, automotive, aerospace, secure documents and more. We work with printers and brands to make quantum technology practical and accessible for any product, anywhere in the world.
Quantum Base is headquartered in Lancaster and listed on the London Stock Exchange (LON: QUBE) in 2025. See Q-ID® in action: https://www.quantumbase.com/how-q-id-works

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
