Head of Software Sales
Location: London or Peterborough (Hybrid)

The Role
This is a strategic leadership position responsible for defining and executing the UK software sales strategy. You’ll guide direct and virtual teams, drive profitable growth, and ensure exceptional customer and seller experiences. The role is ideal for a commercially minded sales leader who thrives in a fast-evolving technology environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and evolve a best‑in‑class software sales function across defined go‑to‑market areas
- Create and execute a business plan aligned to wider sales strategy and financial objectives
- Lead a specialist team, driving capability, performance and continuous development
- Shape the software P&L, maintaining strong financial forecasting and cost management
- Improve win rates and customer value through progressive presales and solution expertise
- Develop market insights and competitive intelligence to steer team direction
- Collaborate with sales leadership, OCTO, marketing, and partner management to drive opportunities
- Represent the organisation at customer, partner and internal events
- Recruit, retain and develop top software sales talent
- Act as a senior escalation point for business‑critical sales events

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proven leadership within the IT & Services market, with experience developing high‑performing teams
- Strong commercial acumen with a record of driving revenue, margin and profitable growth
- Experience managing a P&L and leading strategic sales programmes
- Confident engaging at C‑suite level, with exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Deep understanding of the software procurement lifecycle, contracting, negotiation and vendor management
- Ability to work across multiple business units, influencing stakeholders and driving collaboration
- Highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and accountable, with excellent time‑management skills
Desirable
- Professional certifications in Sales, Leadership, Business Administration or Management
- Experience building internal brand presence across presales or solution sales teams
