Head of Statistics & Advanced Analytics
Location: Hybrid / Flexible
Rate: £600- £800 per day (inside of IR35)
Contract: Interim / Contract
The Opportunity
We are supporting a well-established regulatory organisation on the appointment of a senior statistical leader to help shape the next stage of its analytical journey.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced statistician who can provide strategic leadership across modelling, analytics and evidence generation while working alongside an established data science team. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, ensuring that analytical outputs are robust, credible and capable of informing key organisational decisions.
The organisation is looking for a recognised expert who brings significant experience of leading and developing statistical and analytical functions supported by modern data science techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the organisation's statistical, modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Shape analytical strategy and ensure outputs support evidence-based decision making.
- Provide leadership and oversight to an existing data science function.
- Design and oversee advanced statistical methodologies, modelling frameworks and analytical standards.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for executive-level stakeholders.
- Influence senior leaders and build confidence in analytical approaches and outcomes.
- Establish best practice across statistical governance, quality assurance and analytical delivery.
- Mentor analysts and data scientists, helping to develop capability across the wider team.
- Act as a key partner to a broad range of internal stakeholders, balancing technical excellence with commercial and organisational priorities.

Required Experience
- Extensive experience leading statistical, modelling or analytical functions.
- Strong background in applied statistics, quantitative analysis and evidence generation.
- Proven experience designing and implementing statistical methodologies in complex environments.
- Experience leading teams responsible for modelling, analytics, data science or research.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at Executive and Director level.
- Experience supporting strategic decision making through robust analytical insight.
- Ability to provide leadership, governance and direction to established analytical teams.
- Demonstrable track record of shaping analytical strategy and organisational capability.
