Inspired
Inspired is a market leading, technology-enabled provider of energy and sustainability solutions in the UK - supporting businesses to transition to net zero carbon and manage their response to climate change.
Established in 2000, we became the first publicly quoted advisor following a successful AIM debut in 2011. We are now the UK’s number one destination for businesses seeking expert insight and advisory services to help them manage their energy costs, reduce their carbon emissions and prove their net zero carbon and ESG strategies to their investors and customers.
We are looking for a Head of Strategic Marketing (ABM) to join our successful Marketing on team. This role is home based with occasional travel to offices required.
Role and Responsibilities
The Head of Strategic Marketing (ABM) will lead Inspired’s account-based marketing strategy across a defined portfolio of high-value strategic clients and strategic prospects.
The role will develop highly targeted, insight-led programmes that bring together marketing, sales and account management activity around the organisations that matter most to Inspired. For existing clients, the focus will be on strengthening relationships, supporting retention and identifying opportunities to expand Inspired’s Energy, Sustainability and Optimisation services. For strategic prospects, the role will develop bespoke account strategies designed to create engagement, build relationships with senior decision-makers and generate high-value commercial opportunities.
This is a commercially focused marketing role where success is measured through account engagement, pipeline creation, cross-sell and revenue influence rather than traditional marketing activity alone.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Own and develop Inspired’s Account-Based Marketing strategy across selected strategic clients and prospects.
- Work with Sales, Account Management and divisional leadership to identify, prioritise and segment strategic accounts based on commercial potential, strategic fit and propensity to buy.
- Develop individual and clustered account plans incorporating organisational insight, stakeholder mapping, existing relationships, service penetration and identified commercial opportunities.
- Create highly personalised campaigns and engagement programmes across Energy, Sustainability and Optimisation services.
- Develop multi-channel account activation strategies incorporating digital, email, content, events, direct outreach, executive engagement, insight and sales-led activity.
- Work closely with sales and account teams to create coordinated engagement plans for senior stakeholders and buying committees.
- Identify whitespace and cross-sell opportunities within Inspired’s strategic client portfolio.
- Use account intelligence, market signals, customer data and behavioural insight to identify appropriate moments for engagement.
- Develop propositions, messaging and sales enablement materials tailored to specific accounts, sectors and commercial challenges.
- Ensure marketing activity supports meaningful commercial conversations rather than simply generating marketing engagement.
- Track account engagement, opportunity creation, pipeline progression, cross-sell activity and revenue influence.
- Establish clear ABM measurement and reporting, demonstrating the commercial impact of strategic marketing programmes.
- Champion an account-based approach across Inspired and build strong working relationships between Marketing, Sales, Account Management and service divisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
