Head Of Student Experience

Role Information:

Reference: REQ001531

Location: Based at any campus, with regular weekly travel required between sites

FTE Salary: Up to £49,902.00 (Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience)

Contract Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

The Head of Student Experience is a key College-wide leadership role responsible for the operational leadership, management, and continuous improvement of the services that shape students' day-to-day experience at SGS. Reporting to the Chief Student Officer, the postholder will provide clear and consistent leadership across Customer Experience Team, Libraries, Money Management Services, and Student Journey and Engagement, ensuring these functions work as one connected student experience offer across all campuses.

  • Provide operational leadership and management creating a connected and consistently high-quality student experience across every SGS campus
  • Directly manage and develop the managers responsible for these service areas, setting clear expectations, objectives, and measures of success and creating a strong, collaborative leadership team
  • Lead the continuous improvement of key student journey moments, including Open Days, enrolment, induction, transition, progression, and other significant touchpoints, ensuring activity is coordinated effectively across campuses and services
  • Use student feedback, service data, performance indicators, and qualitative insight to identify trends, gaps, and inequalities, drive improvement, and provide clear reporting and recommendations to the Chief Student Officer and College leadership

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification, or substantial relevant management experience
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in leadership, management, student experience, or a related field
  • Proven experience of leading and improving multiple student-facing, customer-facing, or support services
  • Experience of directly managing managers or service leads, setting expectations, and driving performance and accountability
  • Experience of using data, feedback, and performance measures to evaluate impact and inform decisions
  • Understanding of student engagement, voice, belonging, transition, attendance, retention, and progression
