About the Role
City AM is looking for an ambitious, creative and strategic Head of Studios to lead our multimedia proposition and expand our reach across digital platforms.
In this senior role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all video, audio, and social content reflects and amplifies City AM's editorial tone, values and objectives.
You will manage the production and distribution of City AM’s existing shows and develop proposals for new high-impact formats designed to drive audience growth across multiple platforms.
You will work closely with executive leadership (CEO, COO, Editor, Deputy Editor and Digital Editor) to align business and editorial priorities, while collaborating with commercial colleagues to create innovative, platform-native revenue opportunities without compromising City AM's journalistic integrity.
This is a senior position suited to an individual with two to three years of digital content and studio output experience, ready to step up to a management role. The successful candidate will lead City AM’s Studio output and manage a team of three producers - including a Social Media Producer - and will be responsible for all planning, production and growth strategy across video and audio content.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & Content Strategy
- YouTube Growth: Lead the YouTube strategy, encompassing channel positioning, titles, thumbnails (working with Design Dept.) descriptions, chapters, playlists, Shorts, audience retention, and subscriber growth.
- Publishing & Distribution: Build platform-specific publishing plans around major interviews, video franchises, podcasts, investigations, events, and breaking-news moments.
- Short-Form & Multi-Platform Repurposing: Collaborate with the Social Media Producer to turn long-form interviews and podcasts into short-form clips, trailers, carousels, posts, and follow-up content.
- Performance Analytics: Monitor daily performance metrics including reach, watch time, completion rate, retention, shares, saves, click-throughs, followers, subscribers, and return viewers.
- Platform Ownership: Work with the Digital Editor to develop City AM’s wider platform strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, WhatsApp, and emerging channels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
