Hours: 31.5 - 37 hours per week (0.85 FTE - 1 FTE)
Salary: £36,864 - £47,133 pro rata per annum (pay award pending)

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full-time students with around 2000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. We have over 1,500 apprentices where we work with over 850 individual employers. Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

Head of Subject for A Level Geography
Based in our Academic Studies Department, we are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual to lead on and teach on our A-level Geography courses. As well as being an inspiring lecturer with the ability to enable all learners to reach their true potential, you will hold an appropriate subject qualification to degree level along with a Level 5 teaching qualification such as the Diploma in Education and Training (formerly DTLLS) or equivalent.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, self-motivated and a team player. As well as relevant experience, you will be qualified with related degree.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Organise, plan and monitor high quality delivery on the agreed courses. Including the coordination of other lecturers delivering on agreed courses.
- Deliver excellent standards of teaching and learning across all areas within the curriculum area.
- To lead on the Course Self-Assessment Reporting process.
- Play an active role in the marketing of the College and the Department through such activities as open days and through liaison with local employers and schools.
- Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers/coursework, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.
- Monitor retention, achievement and pass rates and overall student progress.
Required Skills And Experience
- Holds a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Has an appropriate teaching qualification.
- Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
- Has experience in the delivery of A level Geography.
