Head of Talent & Development
A large organisation within the housing sector are growing and they are currently recruiting a Head of Talent & Development for a 6 month initial contract. They will also consider a temp to perm scenario for the right candidate.
This newly created role would be to lead a broad portfolio encompassing Learning & Development, Talent Management, Early Careers, and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. Based on the user-provided role profile.
As they are a national company with a dispersed workforce, you would be able to work mostly remote with occasional meetings in either London or Manchester. They offer nice benefits such as up to 10% pension contribution, annual company bonus and generous family leave.
Reporting to the Director of People, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation's Talent & Development strategy, ensuring the workforce has the skills, capability and leadership required to meet both current and future business objectives. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and drive initiatives that enhance learning, succession planning, career development, internal mobility, and workforce capability.
This is a highly visible leadership role that will partner closely with senior stakeholders across the business, influencing organisational performance through innovative and impactful people solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Learning & Development, Talent, Early Careers and EDI functions, ensuring a joined-up approach to workforce capability and inclusion.
- Develop and implement organisation-wide talent and development strategies aligned to business priorities.
- Design and embed capability frameworks covering leadership, technical and professional development.
- Drive succession planning, talent management and internal mobility initiatives.
- Lead the transition towards a skills-based workforce approach.
- Oversee apprenticeship, graduate and professional qualification programmes.
- Champion inclusive practices and ensure equitable access to development opportunities.
- Build and manage relationships with external learning providers and industry bodies.
- Manage budgets, performance metrics and team development to ensure high-quality outcomes and value for money.
- Partner with senior leaders to identify capability gaps and implement targeted solutions.

Essential Requirements
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Member of the CIPD.
- Significant experience leading Talent, Learning & Development and workforce capability functions within a complex organisation.
- Proven track record of developing and delivering large-scale talent and capability programmes.
- Strong experience in succession planning, leadership development and workforce planning.
- Demonstrable understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion and how to embed inclusive practices.
- Experience influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capability.
- Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
Desirable
- Chartered Fellow CIPD.
- Qualification in Learning, Organisational Development or Talent Management.
- Experience implementing skills-based workforce approaches.
- Experience leading large-scale capability or cultural transformation programmes.
- Experience working within a regulated environment.
