Head of Tax | High-Growth Pan-European Real Estate Investment Manager | London
The Opportunity
This is an exceptional moment to join one of Europe's most ambitious residential real estate investment platforms in a newly elevated, standalone Head of Tax role.
We are retained exclusively to find a technically outstanding and commercially astute Head of Tax for a fast-growing pan-European real estate investment manager with a significant UK residential portfolio — spanning build-to-rent, affordable housing, and single-family homes — backed by an institutional-grade platform with over €20 billion in assets under management across its wider group.
This is a genuine leadership appointment. You will own the tax function entirely, serve as a strategic partner to the CFO, and have the rare opportunity to build and shape an in-house tax capability from a strong foundation. For a driven tax professional, the platform, the asset class, and the growth trajectory make this one of the most compelling roles currently available in the London market.
The Role
You will take full ownership of:
- Tax strategy, governance and risk management across the platform and managed funds
- REIT compliance and monitoring across multiple structures, including SPV conversion planning
- UK corporation tax computations, filings, loss utilisation and group relief optimisation
- Corporate Interest Restriction calculations, elections and modelling
- Quarterly and annual tax provisioning, statutory disclosures and external audit liaison
- Capital allowances strategy and adviser management
- Transfer pricing documentation and intercompany arrangements
- Cash tax forecasting and treasury integration
- Transaction and structuring support — acquisitions, disposals, refinancings and SPV arrangements
- Oversight of VAT, CIS, payroll tax and IR35 compliance
- HMRC relationship management and compliance checks
- Building and developing the in-house tax function for long-term scalability

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
- ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualified
- Strong UK corporate tax technical background with hands-on REIT and property investment vehicle experience
- Proven track record across tax provisioning, CIR, and multi-entity compliance environments
- Commercially minded — able to partner confidently with Finance, Legal, and senior leadership

- Strong adviser management and stakeholder communication skills
Experience in real estate, funds, or property investment structures is strongly preferred.
Why This Role Stands Out
Scale & complexity — You'll oversee tax across multiple REIT structures, corporate entities, and investment vehicles, with a remit spanning REIT compliance, CIR, corporation tax, transfer pricing, capital allowances, VAT, CIS, IR35 and transaction structuring. This is a role with real technical depth.
Build something — This is not a steady-state compliance seat. You will lead the development of the in-house tax function, internalise work currently outsourced, and build scalable processes and governance frameworks fit for a growing platform.

Group backing — The business draws on the expertise and infrastructure of a sister company with over 45 years as a European residential specialist, owning and managing c.200,000 homes across a variety of markets. The institutional knowledge and relationships available to you are exceptional.
Growth trajectory — The platform is actively acquisitive. One of the funds already holds over 7,000 single-family homes and continues to grow. You will be at the table on every transaction, restructuring, and strategic financing decision.
Visibility & influence — Reporting directly to the CFO, you will present to senior leadership, contribute to board and investor reporting packs, and be a trusted voice at the highest level of the organisation.
Reward — Compensation is structured to reflect the seniority of the role and the calibre of candidate required, within a performance-driven, entrepreneurial environment.
