Head of Tax Compliance & Tax Reporting

London - Hybrid
£125-145,000 + Bonus + Package

We are supporting a listed group on a Head of hire. This role will see you lead on all aspects of the tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax reporting function across a complex, multi-jurisdictional business.

Tax Compliance

  • Lead the preparation, review, and submission of all corporate tax, partnership, withholding tax, VAT/GST, employment tax, and other applicable tax filings.
  • Ensure all tax returns, payments, elections, and statutory obligations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee external tax advisors and compliance providers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage the annual tax compliance calendar and ensure adherence to all deadlines.
  • Monitor developments in tax legislation and assess implications for the business.

Tax Reporting & Tax Accounting

  • Lead quarterly and annual tax reporting processes.
  • Own the calculation and review of current and deferred tax provisions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare tax disclosures for statutory accounts, group reporting packs, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure tax balances are accurately reflected in financial statements.
  • Provide tax forecasting and effective tax rate analysis for budgeting and planning processes.

Governance, Controls & Risk Management

  • Develop and maintain a robust tax control framework.
  • Ensure compliance with Senior Accounting Officer (SAO), Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO), transfer pricing, and other governance requirements where relevant.
  • Manage tax risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive tax documentation and reporting procedures.
  • Lead responses to tax audits, enquiries, and regulatory reviews.

Process Improvement & Tax Technology

  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the tax function.
  • Improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of tax reporting and compliance processes.
  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of tax technology solutions.
  • Enhance data quality and tax reporting capabilities across finance systems.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and develop a high-performing tax compliance and reporting team.
  • Build strong relationships with senior finance leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for tax compliance and reporting matters.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Present tax matters, risks, and developments to senior management committees and leadership teams.
