Role Overview
The Head of Technology will be responsible for defining and delivering the technology strategy, infrastructure, and operational resilience for our digital-first, consumer lending business. This role has ownership of the UK technology roadmap, cybersecurity, and data integrity, ensuring that our platforms are scalable, secure, and fully compliant with UK regulatory standards. You will act as the primary technical bridge between the UK business and our parent company’s development hub, ensuring that outsourced technology support is effectively governed and optimised for the UK market.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the UK technology vision, strategy and infrastructure roadmap, aligned to business objectives, FCA regulatory expectations and the Group technology strategy.
- Lead the end-to-end technology lifecycle, including systems architecture, local integrations (CRAs, Open Banking, payments, collections and cloud) and internal IT operations, ensuring UK architecture and standards align with Group architecture while meeting UK operational and regulatory requirements.
- Govern outsourced technical delivery, and establish robust SLAs and performance monitoring.
- Translate UK regulatory and business requirements into clear technical specifications and KPIs to Group technology team, and managing priorities, dependencies, risks and escalations so that UK-specific needs are prioritised and delivered on time.
- Lead incident management, problem resolution, business continuity planning and disaster recovery for UK production systems, and oversee technology performance across system uptime, deployment frequency, security incident response and latency to ensure robust operational resilience.
- Balance speed of delivery and technical innovation with rigorous risk management and quality assurance.
- Work closely with Product, Risk, Compliance, Operations and Finance to ensure the technology stack is scalable and supports consistently good customer outcomes, and report technology risks and service performance to senior management.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in UK FCA-regulated financial services technology, specifically within fintech, digital lending, or banking.
- Strong understanding of retail lending systems, cloud infrastructure and the technical architecture of digital customer journeys.
- Proven experience managing outsourced or cross-border engineering teams, with the ability to influence technical roadmaps across different cultures and time zones.
- Deep knowledge of UK regulatory expectations regarding technology, specifically Operational Resilience, outsourcing and Data Protection.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance technical debt and innovation with customer value and regulatory safety.
- Highly analytical and hands-on, with experience in system troubleshooting, data architecture, and security auditing.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable operating in a fast-growing, "start-up" style environment within a global group structure.
