Head of Technical – Building Envelope

Location: Nationwide (Agile / Hybrid Working)

Hours: Full time, Permanent

About the Role

As our Head of Technical – Building Envelope, you'll serve as Kier Construction's senior technical authority for all aspects of the building envelope, including façades, external walls, roofing systems, waterproofing, building physics and envelope fire performance. This is a strategic leadership position that provides technical governance and independent assurance across all Regional Business Units, ensuring building envelope solutions are safe, compliant, buildable, sustainable and aligned with business objectives. You'll be the organisational Subject Matter Expert, influencing project outcomes through expert advice and technical assurance with a particular focus on Building Safety Act compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic technical leadership and governance across building envelope systems for all projects
  • Acting as senior technical authority for Building Safety Act compliance and technical assurance activities
  • Supporting project teams through technical reviews, design assurance and resolution of complex envelope issues
  • Developing and maintaining technical standards, procedures and best practice guidance
  • Monitoring industry developments and promoting innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement

Requirements

This role of Head of Technical – Building Envelope is great for you if:

  • You have extensive experience in building envelope design, engineering and construction with significant expertise in façades, roofing systems and waterproofing
  • You possess strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety Act requirements and industry standards
  • You have proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams with excellent communication skills
  • You hold a degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology, Building Surveying or equivalent
  • You have membership of a relevant professional institution such as CEng, ARB/RIBA, CABE, IStructE, CIOB, RICS or CIAT
