Job Description
Join our finance team and help navigate us through a critical transformation
The Finance team is critical in supporting the Wise mission. We are working to become listed in the US stock exchange in 2026 and need to ensure our technical accounting team is set-up to meet the respective regulatory requirements.
We’re looking for a Head of Technical Accounting to join and lead our technical accounting team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accounting for our new products and services is in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS to meet our reporting needs. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about financial leadership, we welcome you to apply.
Your mission
- The Technical Accounting team is responsible for understanding the why and how of different accounting areas. This includes documenting accounting position papers and explaining to Finance stakeholders, diverse teams across Wise as well as external auditors the accounting for these. You will be overseeing the team’s work and supporting them in the analysis of various accounting topics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to embed accounting into the business - not just the books: You will collaborate with different teams in Finance to ensure correct application of IFRS and US GAAP and that processes and accounting policies are updated to reflect it.
- Design scalable processes and systems to support rapid growth and future listing in US stock exchange: You are taking ownership for the management of several high-stakes financial workstreams to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards for both internal and external reporting purposes.
- Act as the primary contact with auditors and other stakeholders from the Technical Accounting team side.
- Lead and mentor the Technical Accounting team and support them in the transformation journey.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
