Head of Technical - Batteries/Power
Our client, an established specialist distributor of electronic components and technical solutions, are looking for a Head of Technical - Batteries/Power to join their team on a permanent basis and can be based UK wide.
This is a senior technical and commercial leadership role responsible for leading the technical team, developing a strong design-in pipeline and driving growth across the batteries and power technology portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Technical team, setting KPIs and driving performance across the design funnel
- Develop and convert a sustainable pipeline of design opportunities into design wins and production
- Act as the technical expert across batteries, power and associated technologies
- Work closely with Sales, Account Management and suppliers to identify and convert new opportunities
- Provide technical support throughout the customer design cycle, from evaluation and testing through to production
- Develop supplier growth plans and manage key supplier relationships and QBRs
- Identify gaps within the product portfolio and develop strategies to introduce new suppliers and technologies
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers across customers and suppliers
- Monitor market and technology developments to identify new opportunities
- Support customer visits, supplier training, webinars, exhibitions and marketing campaigns
- Report on technical activity, pipeline development and commercial performance to the SMT and Board

Experience Required
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience within batteries, power electronics or a related technology area
- Proven experience managing a design funnel and successfully designing-in electronic components/products
- Experience within franchise distribution or electronic component distribution
- Proven experience leading and managing a technical and/or sales team
- Strong commercial understanding with the ability to drive revenue and design wins
- Experience managing strategic supplier relationships and developing supplier growth plans
- Electronics or Engineering degree or equivalent qualification desirable
- Strong customer-facing, communication and relationship-building skills
- Commercially focused, proactive and capable of working at both strategic and technical levels
