Your new role
As Head of Technical Compliance, you will lead technical governance, engineering assurance, and statutory compliance across a diverse portfolio of defence sites throughout England.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and implementing technical strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation, engineering standards, and industry best practice. You will lead a team of technical specialists and authorised Persons, providing expert guidance across engineering compliance, health and safety, statutory inspections, sustainability, and infrastructure management.

- Leading technical governance and compliance across a complex national estate.
- Providing technical assurance and expert advice to senior stakeholders.
- Managing audit, assurance, and compliance programmes.
- Overseeing engineering standards, technical policies, procedures, and maintenance specifications.
- Supporting major refurbishment and infrastructure projects through technical reviews and assurance processes.
- Managing compliance reporting, risk registers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Driving a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Supporting sustainability objectives and long-term asset management strategies.
This is a home-based position with regular travel across England (Ideally based in Salisbury)
Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience in technical compliance, engineering governance, or asset assurance within a complex operational environment.
- A Level 3 qualification (or above) in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, engineering standards, and health and safety legislation.
- Experience managing technical teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading audit programmes, governance frameworks, and compliance activities.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, asbestos management, legionella compliance, and wider engineering compliance disciplines.
- Experience working within Defence, government, critical infrastructure, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
