Your new role

As Head of Technical Compliance, you will lead technical governance, engineering assurance, and statutory compliance across a diverse portfolio of defence sites throughout England.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and implementing technical strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation, engineering standards, and industry best practice. You will lead a team of technical specialists and authorised Persons, providing expert guidance across engineering compliance, health and safety, statutory inspections, sustainability, and infrastructure management.

  • Leading technical governance and compliance across a complex national estate.
  • Providing technical assurance and expert advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Managing audit, assurance, and compliance programmes.
  • Overseeing engineering standards, technical policies, procedures, and maintenance specifications.
  • Supporting major refurbishment and infrastructure projects through technical reviews and assurance processes.
  • Managing compliance reporting, risk registers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Driving a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Supporting sustainability objectives and long-term asset management strategies.

This is a home-based position with regular travel across England (Ideally based in Salisbury)

Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in technical compliance, engineering governance, or asset assurance within a complex operational environment.
  • A Level 3 qualification (or above) in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, engineering standards, and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience managing technical teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience leading audit programmes, governance frameworks, and compliance activities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, asbestos management, legionella compliance, and wider engineering compliance disciplines.
  • Experience working within Defence, government, critical infrastructure, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
