Who We Are
Transforming How Passengers Buy And Use Rail
Britain's railways must deliver for passengers now and in the future. That's why the government and the rail industry are delivering a programme of reforms to make rail easier to buy and use:
- Easier to understand, better value fares - Straightforward ticket choices and fair, consistent prices, including more lower fares.
- Confidence you have the right ticket - Simple to understand the ticket you need and better protection for honest passengers through industry-wide action to tackle fare dodging and fraud.
- Easier ways to buy tickets - A high quality GBR website and app selling and serving passengers' rail journeys, alongside independent retailers.
- Rail integrated with other public transport in major urban areas - Tap-in tap-out expanded to Greater Manchester, the West Midlands and more of the South East, with new mobile payment trials testing future innovation.
- Better, more accessible retail experience - More support for passengers including those who rely on paper tickets or cash, or who need extra assistance.
We're not waiting. As we become Great British Railways, a programme of reform is already making rail easier to buy and use, helping rebuild trust in rail and encouraging more people to travel by train.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership for the technical delivery capability across our Fares, Ticketing and Retail programmes. Leading the successful implementation of complex technology portfolios, you will influence delivery across a multi-organisational rail industry ecosystem to achieve both organisational and customer outcomes. As a key leader, you will shape and continuously evolve the technical delivery operating model, governance framework and organisational capability, improving delivery maturity, maximising investment value and supporting long-term strategic ambitions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
