Bield Housing & Care
One of Scotland’s leading providers of housing, care and support for older people, since 1975, with over 4600 properties spread across 21 local authorities in Scotland. We have circa 700 people working within our offices and developments. Our core purpose is to support our 5400+ tenants to live independently in their own home, within supportive and connected communities. We also have more than 14,000 customers using our alarm receiving centre (BR24).
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Technology to join us as we are investing in technology, digital services and better use of data to modernise how we work, strengthen our services and improve the experience of our tenants and colleagues. This is a great opportunity to join Bield as we are making significant change and investment in how we help shape a secure, connected and digitally enabled organisation that is ready for the future.
As Bield’s senior technical lead and a member of our leadership team, you will be accountable for secure, resilient and effective technology services. You will set the standards and architecture that connect our systems, strengthen cyber security and guide investment. You will also contribute to wider organisational direction, performance and culture, working closely with leaders across Bield.
This role brings strategic leadership and practical delivery together. You will develop a realistic technology roadmap, lead our core platforms and support services, and ensure projects are governed well and can be sustained after implementation. You will work with service leaders to assess new ideas against tenant needs, operational priorities, accessibility, affordability and technical risk. Business leads retain operational ownership of tenant and housing services; you will provide the technical design, integration and assurance that helps those services work as part of a coherent Bield environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
