Head of Technology Portfolio and Change

Needed to lead the technology change function at a large professional services firm in London.

This is a senior role with a small direct team, with most of the delivery team sitting with an outsourced partner. You’ll be the person with a clear view of every technology project across the firm: what’s been requested, what’s in progress, what it’s costing and whether it’s on track. That means putting a proper framework around how work comes in, how it’s prioritised and resourced, and how progress is reported to the top of the firm. You’ll also be responsible for how well the outsourced change team delivers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Putting in place the standards, controls and reporting that all technology change runs under, in step with the firm’s central PMO
  • Running the front door for new technology requests, from first ask through to assessment, ranking and kick-off
  • Helping the business and technology teams choose between competing priorities by laying out value, cost, risk and capacity
  • Keeping a live picture of what’s in flight and what’s coming next
  • Planning people and capacity across projects, programmes and day-to-day work, and spotting shortfalls before they cause problems
  • Managing the outsourced change team and being the first call when a project hits trouble
  • Reporting to executive level on how the portfolio is performing, covering risk, dependencies and the benefits being delivered
  • Raising the maturity of the function over time through better tooling, dashboards and ways of working

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
