The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Therapy to provide clinical leadership across Gordon Moody and help shape the future of our therapeutic services.
This is a senior and influential role, combining clinical expertise with people leadership, governance and service development. You’ll work closely with our Clinical Director and Senior Leadership Team, while leading and supporting our team of therapists to deliver consistently safe, effective and high-quality care.

You’ll be Gordon Moody’s senior therapy specialist, bringing expert guidance to complex cases, safeguarding and clinical risk, while ensuring our treatment programmes continue to evolve in line with evidence, outcomes and the needs of the people we support.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and develop our therapy team, providing clinical supervision, support and professional leadership.
- Oversee clinical governance, safeguarding, clinical risk and quality assurance.
- Act as Gordon Moody’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Provide expert guidance on complex addiction and mental health presentations.
- Maintain a small clinical caseload, focusing primarily on more complex or higher-risk cases.
- Lead the delivery and development of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT and motivational interventions.
- Review and improve treatment programmes using evidence, outcomes and service-user feedback.
- Support clinical audits, quality improvement and preparation for external inspections.
- Contribute to Gordon Moody’s Senior Leadership Team and deputise for the Clinical Director when required.
- Support the recruitment, development and retention of a strong and confident therapy workforce.
- Represent Gordon Moody with commissioners, professional networks, universities and clinical partners.
About You
You’ll be an experienced therapeutic professional who enjoys both developing people and improving services.
You’ll bring strong clinical judgement and professional credibility, but just as importantly, you’ll be approachable, supportive and comfortable working collaboratively with people across the organisation.

We’re looking for someone with:
- A degree in a therapeutic or mental health discipline such as CBT, Counselling or Psychology.
- Current BABCP accreditation, or accreditation with another relevant recognised professional body.
- A recognised Clinical Supervision qualification.
- At least three years’ experience within addiction services or a comparable mental health setting.
- Advanced CBT formulation and intervention experience.
- Experience supporting people with complex addiction and co-occurring mental health needs.
- Previous experience managing and supervising qualified therapists.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and clinical risk.
- Experience of clinical governance, audit, quality assurance and service improvement.
- Experience contributing at senior leadership level.
- Most importantly, you’ll share our belief in compassionate, inclusive and non-judgmental care and want to help both our people and our services continue to grow.
