About the role
The Head of Trading owns the commercial performance of the Numeris online store, from the first ad a customer sees to their third order. You will decide what we promote, how we price it, where we spend to acquire customers and how we bring them back, then turn daily data into actions that grow profitable sales.
Role: Head of Trading
Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer
Team: Paid media & CRM
Location: Office-based, Swansea
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Up to £65,000 + 25% bonus tied to revenue and margin targets
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will set the strategy and also be close enough to the numbers to spot a slow-selling line, a broken promotion or an overspending campaign before lunch.
Key responsibilities
Trading strategy and planning
- Build and own the annual trading plan and promotional calendar, including peak periods such as Black Friday, Christmas and seasonal sales.
- Set weekly, monthly and quarterly sales and margin targets, and forecast performance against them.
- Lead the weekly trading meeting: review what sold, what didn't, and agree the actions for the week ahead.
Pricing and promotions
- Own pricing strategy across the range, balancing competitiveness, conversion and margin.
- Plan, launch and evaluate promotions, discount codes and bundles, measuring their true incremental return.
- Monitor competitor pricing and market trends and respond quickly.
Range, stock and merchandising
- Work with buying and operations to keep the right stock in the right depth, minimising both stockouts and overstock.
- Drive sell-through and clearance plans for aged or slow-moving stock.
- Direct onsite merchandising: homepage, category ordering, product pages and search results, so the best-performing products get the most visibility.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Paid media and acquisition
- Own the paid media budget and strategy across channels such as Meta, Google and TikTok, allocating spend to the products and audiences that return the most profit.
- Set ROAS and customer acquisition cost targets, and manage campaigns, agencies or freelancers against them.
- Keep paid media and trading in step, so ads only push products that are in stock, priced to sell and carry healthy margin.
CRM and retention
- Own the CRM and email/SMS programme, including welcome, abandoned basket, post-purchase and win-back flows.
- Segment customers and plan campaigns that lift repeat purchase rate and customer lifetime value.
- Use customer data to shape promotions, so discounts reward loyalty rather than giving margin away to customers who would have bought anyway.
Customer and conversion
- Improve conversion rate and average order value through onsite changes, testing and offers.
- Manage selling channels beyond the main site where relevant.
Leadership and reporting
- Lead, coach and grow the paid media and CRM team, and build a single trading rhythm that brings merchandising, marketing and CRM together.
- Report on trading, acquisition and retention performance to the Chief Commercial Officer and leadership team, with clear recommendations.
- Own the trading dashboards and make sure the business has reliable, timely data.
Skills and experience
Essential
- 4+ years in ecommerce trading, performance marketing or commercial roles, including at least 2 years leading a team.
- A track record of growing online revenue while protecting or improving margin.
- Hands-on experience managing paid media budgets on Meta and Google Ads, with accountability for ROAS and acquisition cost.
- Experience running CRM and email/SMS programmes on a platform such as Klaviyo.
- Strong commercial and numerical skills: comfortable with P&L, margin, forecasting and stock metrics.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets, and hands-on experience with web analytics such as GA4.
- Experience planning and running promotional calendars, including peak trading.
- Familiarity with Shopify and its reporting.
- Clear communicator who can turn data into decisions and bring marketing, buying and operations along.

Within 90 days you will have reviewed pricing, promotions and paid media spend across the range, audited the CRM flows, set up a weekly trading report, and presented a plan for the next peak season.
What we offer
- Salary of up to £65,000, plus a performance bonus of up to 25%.
