Platinum & Partners have been engaged to conduct a confidential search for a Head of Trading Technology on behalf of a highly sophisticated proprietary trading firm headquartered in Singapore. This is a rare, green-field opportunity for an elite systems architect to take full technical ownership of a next-generation, ultra-low-latency trading platform built from the ground up.
The Opportunity
This is not a management role in the traditional sense. Our client is looking for a hands-on technical leader who remains deeply embedded in the codebase — writing production-grade code, resolving complex low-level bottlenecks, and mentoring engineers by example. You will assume end-to-end technical custody over the firm's core off-chain infrastructure: a high-performance pricing engine, pre-trade risk framework, high-fidelity simulation stack, and systematic backtesting platform, all purpose-built to support high-frequency, cross-market hedging at institutional scale.
The firm operates at the forefront of quantitative proprietary trading and is executing an ambitious technology buildout. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to architect something genuinely world-class from scratch, without corporate red tape, with direct PnL impact from day one. Full global relocation support is provided.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
