Head of Transaction Monitoring & Fraud

Must have Acquiring and/or Issuing experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's fastest-growing fintech payments businesses.

This is a senior leadership role where you'll take ownership of the organisation's transaction monitoring and fraud prevention framework, helping protect the business and its customers from financial crime while supporting continued growth and innovation.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact within a high-growth, technology-driven payments business where you'll lead a high-performing team and have the autonomy to shape strategy, influence senior decision-making and build a best-in-class transaction monitoring function.

The Opportunity

As Head of Transaction Monitoring & Fraud, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the firm's transaction monitoring strategy across fraud prevention, AML/CTF, sanctions screening and payment scheme compliance.

You'll combine strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight, ensuring monitoring controls remain effective, proportionate and scalable as the business continues to expand. This role offers significant exposure across the organisation, partnering with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Operations and Product teams, while acting as a key contact for regulators, auditors, card schemes and external partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
