Head of Transactional Finance

The Opportunity

An ambitious and growing organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Transactional Finance to lead and develop a high-performing finance operations function during a period of continued growth and transformation.

This is a newly created leadership role with responsibility for overseeing core transactional finance activities, driving process improvements, strengthening financial controls, and supporting the business as it continues to evolve.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future structure of the function, build strong teams, and deliver operational excellence across a multi-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transactional finance function across multiple business units and locations.
  • Oversee teams responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections and wider finance operations.
  • Develop and mentor team leaders and finance professionals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service delivery and financial control.
  • Review and streamline processes to support future growth and scalability.
  • Support business integration and change initiatives as required.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to improve operational performance and cash flow management.
  • Establish consistent policies, procedures and reporting frameworks across the finance function.
  • Lead projects aimed at improving systems, controls and ways of working.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across both finance and operational teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About You

We are seeking an experienced transactional finance leader who has successfully managed large-scale finance operations within complex and evolving environments.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience leading transactional finance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing and credit management processes.
  • Proven people management and leadership skills.
  • Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • The ability to lead teams through periods of change and growth.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A hands-on approach combined with strategic thinking.
  • Experience improving controls, governance and cash flow performance.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a high-growth business environment.
  • Exposure to acquisitions, integrations or organisational change programmes.
  • Experience working alongside wider transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of modern ERP and finance systems.
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced commercial setting.
