Purpose of the role

The Head of Domain Transformation is responsible for leading the delivery of strategic transformation initiatives, ensuring programmes are shaped, governed and executed to deliver defined business objectives and benefits.

The role operates at a senior level across the organisation, providing leadership of large-scale transformation activity while establishing strong governance, delivery discipline and stakeholder alignment. It plays a critical role in ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required scope and quality, while enabling sustainable change and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities

Transformation leadership & delivery

  • Lead the delivery of large and complex transformation initiatives, from initial shaping through to implementation and benefits realisation.
  • Oversee programme delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives and business priorities.
  • Manage interdependencies across initiatives to ensure effective delivery and transition into business-as-usual operations.

Stakeholder engagement & executive management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and executives across the organisation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, supporting the successful delivery of business objectives.
  • Provide clear, concise and impactful executive-level communications and reporting.

Governance, planning & control

  • Ensure robust governance structures, standards and delivery frameworks are in place across all transformation activity.
  • Oversee planning, scheduling, forecasting and delivery management across programmes.
  • Manage risk, assumptions, issues and dependencies to ensure successful delivery.

Resource & financial management

  • Define and manage resource demand across initiatives, including internal and external resources.
  • Oversee financial management including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
  • Ensure strong financial governance and benefits tracking are embedded within programmes.

Leadership & team management

  • Provide leadership to cross-functional teams operating within a matrix environment.
  • Lead and develop teams ranging from small specialist groups to large-scale programme teams.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability and delivery excellence.

Continuous improvement & delivery excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement in transformation delivery approaches, tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure consistent application of best practice across both agile and waterfall delivery models.
  • Support the development of organisational capability in transformation delivery.

Your skills, experience and qualifications

Qualifications and experience

  • Significant experience delivering large-scale strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex programmes across functions and directorates.
  • Strong experience working with senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • Experience managing large teams within a matrix environment.
  • Experience delivering complex IT, digital or business transformation programmes is highly desirable.
