Head of Treasury (Contract)

Location: Manchester City Centre (2/3 days a week on site)
Contract: Initial 3-6 month contract, with high chance for extension
Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAP

Overview

Are you a senior Treasury professional who enjoys building functions, improving processes and making an immediate impact?

We're working with a well-known UK organisation undergoing a significant period of transformation, looking for an experienced Head of Treasury to establish and lead its in-house treasury function on an initial contract basis.

This is a genuine hands-on transformation role rather than a BAU Treasury position. You'll have ownership across treasury strategy, liquidity, funding, banking relationships, financial risk and governance, working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership team.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into an established organisation, assessing the current position quickly and putting the right processes, controls, governance and operating model in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the in-house treasury function, defining the operating model, processes and governance.
  • Lead cash and liquidity management, including cash forecasting and working capital optimisation.
  • Develop and manage relationships with banks, lenders, investors and key internal stakeholders.
  • Support short, medium and long-term funding and capital strategies.
  • Lead debt management and financing activities, including refinancing where required.
  • Oversee FX requirements and broader financial risk management.
  • Establish robust treasury controls, policies and governance frameworks.
  • Provide strategic treasury insight to the Finance Director and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead and develop a small treasury team.
  • Identify and implement improvements across treasury processes, systems and automation.
  • Support the wider finance transformation agenda.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
