Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, strategic and authoritative Head of UK Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to lead regulatory compliance for FDJ UNITED’s Online Betting and Gaming (OBG) UK operations, headquartered in Gibraltar.

This is a high-profile, senior position responsible for ensuring full regulatory compliance in a fast-moving and highly regulated environment. The role will act as the UK Personal Management Licence (PML) holder and primary point of contact with the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC).

This is a senior leadership role within the UK business and is not a commercial, sales, or marketing position. The successful candidate will have no revenue-generation responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the UK Personal Management Licence holder and Head of Regulatory Compliance, acting as the primary interface with the UKGC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Act as MLRO including oversight of suspicious activity reporting (SARs) to the National Crime Agency (NCA) and other relevant Financial Intelligence Units.
  • Develop, implement and continuously strengthen the UK compliance framework, policies, and procedures (including AML/CTF, Safer Gambling, Consumer Protection and Marketing compliance) to reflect evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Lead cyclical compliance monitoring programmes, maintain a comprehensive compliance register and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Manage UKGC requirements including UKGC returns, Key Event notifications, LCCP requirements, responses to information requests and compliance assessments.
  • Provide high-quality, pragmatic, and strategic compliance advice and guidance across the business, including support on compliance incidents, internal JIRA requests and cross-functional projects.
  • Support the Head of Legal on broader regulatory matters, such as ASA enquiries and material customer complaints.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders across the UK business (including the UK General Manager, Player Risk team and central legal, compliance and risk functions).
  • Represent the business at relevant industry forums (e.g., BGC, GBGA, GAMLG).

Person Specification – Essential Requirements

  • UKGC Personal Management Licence (PML) is mandatory for this role. You will either hold or apply for a PML.
  • Extensive senior-level experience in UK online gambling compliance within a UK licensed operator.
  • In-depth expert knowledge of the UK gambling regulatory landscape, including the Gambling Act 2005, LCCP, AML/CTF (MLR 2017), Safer Gambling, Consumer Protection and Fairness requirements.
  • Proven track record as an MLRO or deputy MLRO, with strong experience in suspicious activity identification and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level while maintaining rigorous attention to operational detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory concepts clearly to diverse audiences (including senior executives, technical teams, and non-specialists).
  • Strong drafting and policy-writing skills with native-level English proficiency.
  • High emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
  • Tech-savvy with a solid understanding of online gambling platforms, systems, and associated compliance risks.
  • Degree-level education (preferred).
