Head of Underwriting, Conduct and Compliance
Salary: circa £115,000 – £130,000
Locations: Norwich/ Glasgow/ Leeds/ Perth (UK)
About the Role
The Head of Underwriting Conduct and Compliance is responsible for leading and embedding a robust conduct, compliance, and risk framework across Personal Lines Underwriting. Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, the role ensures regulatory requirements, customer outcomes, and governance standards are integrated into underwriting, pricing, and product activities. The position provides strategic leadership, oversight of conduct and compliance reporting, engagement with regulatory and assurance activities, and drives continuous improvement through effective controls, transformation initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Skills & Experience
- Extensive knowledge of the UK General Insurance market, with strong expertise in underwriting, pricing, product governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and oversee robust conduct, risk, and control frameworks that deliver fair customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.
- Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions and operational improvements.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in building, developing, and managing high-performing teams while influencing and challenging senior stakeholders effectively.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience producing regulatory reporting, board-level insights, and assurance documentation.

- Salary circa £115,000 – £130,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
