Director and Head of Not for Profit VAT
We are recruiting for a leading independent advisory firm looking to appoint a Director and Head of Not for Profit VAT.
This is a great opportunity to build a new specialist team from the ground up, but with a great support structure, realistic revenue expectations and being valued.
The wider Indirect Tax practice is led by two successful Partners covering different areas of VAT, and this hire will take ownership of building the firm's dedicated Not for Profit offering.
You will have access to an excellent existing client base, significant resource to help you succeed and the freedom to shape the proposition properly. The firm is independent and takes a long term view, so there is no pressure to deliver an immediate short-term return. The aim is to build a high quality function for the future.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The culture is also a major part of the opportunity. Despite this being a build role, there is no expectation to work beyond contracted hours. The firm strongly believes that people perform better when they have a proper work/life balance and their clients don't expect it either
I am interested in speaking with experienced Senior Managers or Directors with strong UK VAT knowledge and meaningful Not for Profit experience who want the opportunity to build something with genuine support behind them.
