Thistley Hough Academy is seeking a dedicated Head of Year (Non-Teaching) to champion student wellbeing, drive high standards of behaviour and attendance, and lead a year group to success.
Job Title: Head of Year (Non-Teaching)
Location: Thistley Hough Academy, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Salary: Grade 8 - Points 22 to 25 (£32,654 to £35,235 FTE) (£28,803.70 - £30,303.36 Actual)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full Time, Term-time only

About you:
Thistley Hough Academy are looking for a Non-Teaching Head of Year, who thrives on building strong relationships, leading with empathy, and creating a positive impact every day. You will bring a strong background in pastoral care, have excellent communication skills, ability to handle complex problems calmly and hold a commitment to fostering a supportive school environment.
Our ideal candidate would have:
- Strong pastoral experience in an educational setting, with a proven ability to support student welfare, behaviour, and attendance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and the ability to manage complex student needs with professionalism and care.
- Organised, proactive, and solution-focused, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and lead a year group effectively.
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
