Head of Organisational Development / Senior Organisational Development Consultant
West Midlands | Initial 6-month FTC | Start ASAP

LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a leading organisation in the West Midlands with the appointment of a Head of Organisational Development for an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a senior transformation role with a significant focus on Organisation Design.
The successful individual will lead the design and shaping of the future organisation as an existing part of the Group transitions into its own standalone subsidiary. This will involve unpicking the current structure, understanding how teams, responsibilities and capabilities currently sit across the wider Group, and then defining the future-state organisation required to operate effectively as a more independent business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end Organisation Design agenda for the transition to a standalone subsidiary.
- Unpick the current organisational structure and identify key interdependencies across the wider Group.
- Design and shape the future-state organisational structure.
- Review and define spans, layers, reporting lines, roles, accountabilities and decision-making responsibilities.
- Support the development of the future target operating model.
- Determine which capabilities, roles and activities need to be retained, separated, redesigned, replicated or newly created.
- Define clear organisational pathways and transition plans from current to future state.
- Identify capability gaps and future workforce requirements.
- Develop organisation design principles and frameworks to support consistent decision-making.
- Facilitate senior leadership discussions around structure, accountability, governance and organisational effectiveness.
- Translate complex organisational challenges into clear, practical design recommendations.
- Ensure the future organisation is commercially viable, scalable and aligned to the strategic direction of the subsidiary.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Head of OD, Organisation Design Lead or Senior OD Consultant with strong, hands-on Organisation Design expertise.

You will ideally bring:
- Significant experience leading Organisation Design within complex organisations.
- Strong experience of designing future-state organisational structures and operating models.
- Proven capability across spans and layers, role design, accountabilities, governance and decision rights.
- Experience unpicking complex organisational structures and dependencies.
- Experience supporting major transformation, business separation, carve-out or subsidiary creation would be highly advantageous.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect organisation design decisions to business performance.
- Confidence influencing senior executives and challenging existing organisational thinking.
- The ability to operate at pace and bring structure to ambiguity.
Experience across both private-sector and education-related environments would be advantageous.
This role will particularly suit someone who is at their strongest when moving from “how the organisation works today” to “what the organisation needs to look like tomorrow.”
