An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Head Person to join the growing team at Jack Channon Racing.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a progressive and ambitious yard with an expanding string of horses.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the yard and will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the daily running of the yard, including organising staff and working closely with senior team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Acting as the yard medic, administering medications, carrying out bandaging and maintaining the high standards of equine care and welfare.
  • Liaising closely with veterinarians, farriers and other equine professionals.
  • Maintaining accurate medical and treatment records.
  • Feeding and accurate stock checking.
  • Leading, supporting and motivating the team to support a positive, professional and efficient working environment.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Have industry experience, ideally with previous experience in a senior management role.
  • Be highly organised, reliable and punctual.
  • Have excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Remain calm under pressure, be proactive and able to work independently using their own initiative.
  • Have experience administering medications and maintaining accurate treatment records.
  • Be capable of riding racehorses; this would be advantageous but is not essential.
