Newcastle Kingston Park — Head Veterinary Nurse
Are you an RVN ready to take the next step into a leadership role?
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse to join our team at Vets4Pets Newcastle Kingston Park as Head Nurse.
About us
Our purpose-built surgery, complete with high quality facilities and equipment, is situated in a great location inside the Pets at Home store in Kingston Park. Vets4Pets Newcastle Kingston Park, along with Vets4Pets Gateshead, is owned by Samantha Sauer MRCVS and Mark Sauer. We are a small GP practice which takes pride in offering our clients a tailored, personal service, working with them to keep their pets happy and healthy.
The role
This role would suit a senior or deputy nurse ready to step up, or an established Head Nurse looking for a better work/life balance. You will lead a small nursing team, drive practice standards, and coach new talent.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We are looking for someone with experience of supervising, mentoring or leading a nursing team. You do not need to have held a Head Nurse post before. What matters is that you have carried some responsibility for others and want to build on it. We will support you to grow into the role with funded CPD and direct access to the practice owners.
Strong communication and client care skills are essential.
Ideally we are looking for our new Head Nurse to cover full time hours (37.5), but hours and rota are flexible and can be framed to suit your needs.
