Role Description
The Head Waiter role at Piccolino Virginia Water is a full-time, on-site position based in Virginia Water. The Head Waiter oversees the restaurant floor, ensuring attentive and efficient service, welcoming guests, managing reservations, and coordinating table assignments. This role leads and supports the front-of-house team, mentors junior staff, and helps maintain high standards of presentation, hygiene, and guest satisfaction.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:


Get help with your application

- Taking orders
- Serving food and beverages
- Responding to guest requests
- Liaising with the kitchen to ensure smooth service
The Head Waiter also assists with opening and closing procedures, handling guest feedback, and contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating positive guest experiences.
- Practical knowledge of food & beverage and food service operations, ideally in a restaurant setting.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with guests and coordinating with team members.
- Basic understanding of cooking or kitchen processes to collaborate effectively with back-of-house staff.
- Previous experience in a senior waiting or supervisory front-of-house role.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and train team members in service standards and procedures.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
- Knowledge of food safety, allergen awareness, and health and safety practices is an advantage.
- Experience in upscale or high-volume dining environments is beneficial.
