About the Role
As a Head Waiter, you are at the heart of the guest dining experience, combining exceptional service with the confidence and leadership to guide the team around you. This is more than a service role; it is about Relationship Hospitality: anticipating needs, creating meaningful connections, and ensuring every guest feels genuinely recognised and cared for. If you thrive in a fast-paced luxury environment, take pride in delivering flawless service, and enjoy inspiring others to achieve the highest standards, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver warm, personalised, and intuitive service, ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience from arrival to departure.
- Provide expert guidance on food and beverage offerings, making tailored recommendations and confidently discussing ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, and wine pairings.
- Take ownership of your section during service, ensuring impeccable table presentation, smooth service flow, and adherence to five-star standards at all times.
- Lead by example on the floor, supporting and mentoring junior associates while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings when required, communicating service priorities, VIP arrivals, menu updates, and operational information clearly and effectively.
- Handle guest feedback, concerns, and special requests professionally and discreetly, taking personal ownership of resolution and escalating where appropriate.
- Support the opening and closing of the outlet, ensuring all service areas are clean, organised, fully stocked, and prepared for exceptional service.
- Work closely with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams to ensure a seamless and coordinated guest experience.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational compliance, while identifying opportunities to enhance service and improve guest satisfaction.
- Support leadership responsibilities in the absence of management, helping to guide the team and ensure operational excellence throughout service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
