About Us
G4S Employment Support Services (ESS) deliver employability programmes on behalf of the DWP.
This contract will support individuals with long term health barriers to move closer towards employment in the future by working with specialist providers and a dedicated team to help tailor support plans to the needs of each individual.
To apply for our roles you don't necessarily need experience in Employability or Welfare to Work but you do need to be enthusiastic about understanding the industry, passionate about delivering quality support to vulnerable people and have the skill set to meet the requirements of the role.
About The Role
As a Health and Employment Advisor, you will be responsible for owning and managing a caseload of individuals with long term health conditions who may be seeking employment in the future.
Travel will be required as part of this role, which will predominantly be limited to a localised area.
and applicants should be based within the North West of England.
A driving licence and your own vehicle are preferred and travel costs will be reimbursed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct effective initial meetings with referred participants to maximise their engagement onto the provision.
- Manage your own time effectively to ensure that you meet with each assigned participant as frequently as possible and a minimum of once every 4 weeks, via a method of their choosing (phone/video/face to face).
- Produce robust, tailored and individual support plans for every participant that clearly demonstrate their progression throughout a 6 - 12 month journey.
- Work with the wider team to establish suitable delivery premises for any face to face interaction.
- Signpost individuals effectively to external provision and monitor the progression within this referral.
- Maintain strong communication links with every active/inactive individual in line with contractual guidance and record this effectively.
- Advocate for participants by advising employers on reasonable adjustments, workplace modifications, and phased return-to-work plans under the Equality Act.
- Build strong links with local NHS services, GPs, Mental Health teams and community organisations to ensure participants access external clinical support when needed.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and timely participant records on our internal database in line with GDPR guidelines and contract compliance.
- Ensure the Health and Safety of yourself, colleagues and participants and report any incidents/accidents/safeguarding issues in line with process and in a timely manner.

Essential Skills
- Strong Customer Service skills dealing with individuals in line with their specific needs.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain records to the highest standards.
- A good understanding of how health challenges can impact on employment and the ability to solution design.
- An understanding of Access to Work and Reasonable Workplace Adjustments.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to communicate with a variety of individuals, both internally and externally, at all levels.
- The ability to analyse complex information and processes.
- IEP Level 2 or the desire to work towards.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of the Welfare to Work industry.
- Experience of working with government contracts.
- Minimum 2 years supporting individuals with chronic health conditions or neurodiversity.
