Health and Fitness Instructor

Salary - £25,584 - £27,269 (pro-rata)
Hours - 20.5 hours per week
Contract type - Part time, Permanent
Location - WV Active Aldersley Leisure Village & WV Active Central Baths
Shift Pattern (Non-negotiable hours) -

  • Monday - 14:00 - 22:00
  • Friday - 14:00 - 21:30
  • Sunday - 10:15 - 16:15

Job Purpose And Role

To provide health and fitness instruction for the commercial operation of all health and fitness programmes across the business in accordance with the policies and objectives determined by the council.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • To administer and undertake practical health and fitness instruction including personal training, aquatic programmes, group exercise classes and fitness suite inductions (8 years and over) at the appropriate level and within agreed standards
  • To liaise with the Sports & Events Manager and Sports & Events Support Manager in relation to standards set for the delivery of health and fitness activities across the business.
  • Review and adhere to the Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plan in the leisure centre.
  • Cover Group Exercise classes
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the gym

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent and/or relevant professional experience
  • First Aid at Work Certificate
  • Health and Fitness level 2 or above qualification

Bert Williams Leisure Centre in Bilston and our dual site Aldersley Leisure Village in Tettenhall and Central Baths, a city centre location. We support over 12,000 active members in achieving their health and fitness goals and host national events at our Aldersley facility.

If you are passionate about working in the leisure and fitness industry and supporting us across our sites to operate our growing events programs, then we would like to hear from you.

You will be required to supervise the fitness gym, carry out Inductions, produce personal workout programmes, teach Group Exercise Classes and Aqua Aerobics Classes. You will also be required to keep the gym area clean.

You will need to be a qualified level 2 Gym Instructor or Level 3 Personal Trainer. You will also need to hold a Group Exercise qualification or have professional experience of teaching classes (Les Mills, spinning etc or willing to gain within 6 months of contract)
