Project Safety Advisor

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

£430 per day (Outside IR35)

12 months

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Safety Advisor to join a well-established construction business delivering a major project in the Newcastle area.

Working closely with the site and project teams, you will provide practical Health and Safety support throughout the construction programme. This is a site-focused position, suited to someone who enjoys being out on projects, engaging with operational teams, and ensuring good safety standards are maintained throughout delivery.

You will work alongside project management, supervisors, and subcontractors, helping to identify and manage risk while promoting a positive and proactive approach to Health and Safety on site.

The Key Responsibilities of the Project Safety Advisor:

  • Provide day-to-day Health and Safety advice and support to the project team
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations
  • Support the development and review of RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with project requirements
  • Assist with incident, near miss, and hazard investigations
  • Support site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Work closely with site management to identify risks and implement appropriate controls
  • Maintain relevant Health and Safety records and project documentation
  • Engage with the workforce to promote positive safety behaviours
  • Support the continuous improvement of Health and Safety performance across the project

The Project Safety Advisor will have:

  • Previous Health and Safety experience within construction
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Health and Safety qualification
  • Good working knowledge of UK construction Health and Safety legislation
  • An understanding of CDM Regulations
  • Experience working directly with site and project teams
  • Confidence engaging with employees, subcontractors, and senior project stakeholders
  • A practical approach to Health and Safety rather than purely compliance focused
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
