We’re currently looking for a Health & Safety Advisor on a full time, permanent basis. This position sits within the Global Business Services team, based in our Glasgow office.
As the Health & Safety Advisor, you’ll play an important role in supporting a positive, proactive health and safety culture across our organisation. Working in partnership with employees and managers, you’ll provide practical advice, build awareness and encourage positive behaviours that help keep our people safe and ensure workplace risks are effectively managed.
The job
Reporting to the Global Health & Safety Manager, on a day-to-day basis, you’ll be involved in the following:
- Providing advice and support on office-based health and safety matters, including display screen equipment, workstation assessments, statutory compliance, fire safety, first aid and emergency arrangements.
- Assisting with the delivery and management of mandatory health and safety training.
- Managing the DSE assessment process, including reviewing assessments, providing advice about adjustments and completing detailed assessments when needed.
- Working with managers and HR colleagues, advising on reasonable adjustments and arranging and completing specialist assessments and risk assessments where appropriate.
- Managing incident reporting and investigations, identifying trends and follow up actions.
- Completing and reviewing corporate and individual risk assessments, for example, those relating to office environments, new and expectant mothers, young people and disability-related risks.
- Providing health and safety advice and support across our global offices, helping ensure compliance with local legislative requirements.
- Working with third party suppliers to ensure compliance in their relevant areas, e.g. facilities management teams and undertaking due diligence reviews and audits where required, recording findings and managing subsequent actions.
- Assisting with the development and continual improvement of the health and safety management system and supporting wider health and safety compliance and improvement initiatives.

The person
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a recognised health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Level 3 Certificate or equivalent, or relevant practical health and safety experience ideally in a corporate environment.
- Is professional and competent in providing health and safety advice and guidance, with a detailed working knowledge of relevant UK legislation, health and safety principles and best practice, and the ability to apply these effectively in a practical workplace setting.
- Is competent in completing DSE assessments and advising on reasonable adjustments.
- Is people-focused and has an approachable style, with the ability to build positive relationships and provide clear, practical advice to employees and managers.
- Is self-sufficient and able to work independently, but equally comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team with a hands-on approach.
- Has the ability to plan and manage their own workload, prioritise effectively and take ownership of tasks from start to finish.
- Has a proactive, practical approach, with the confidence to identify issues, ask questions and follow actions through to completion.
- Has a willingness to learn and develop, and to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and our global offices.
