About the Job
The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for providing expert advice and support to Delegated Services (DS) customers on Health, Safety, and Welfare. You will manage a dedicated caseload of customers across the West Country, ensuring they receive high-quality, contracted services tailored to their needs.
In this role, you will deliver yearly Health & Safety audits, support customers with resulting action plans, manage them to their contracts, and advise on risk assessments and practical implementation to prevent accidents. You will act as a trusted advisor, handling general H&S queries, reviewing incidents, and building strong, transparent relationships that encourage feedback and continuous service improvement.
Key Activities
- Conducting on-site customer H&S audits & walk-rounds, producing comprehensive supporting reports.
- Advising customers on risk assessment implementation, helping identify workplace hazards, evaluate risks, and establish control measures.
- Responding to ad-hoc Health, Safety, and Welfare queries from customers.
- Developing, updating, and implementing H&S policies, procedures, and guidance in alignment with current UK legislation.
- Reviewing incidents and supporting with potential RIDDOR submissions where required.
- Monitoring and researching new health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Developing effective collaborative working relationships with team members, colleagues, external agencies, and partners.
- Working with peers to continuously improve internal processes and supporting strategic growth projects.

About you
Essential skills required
- Relevant qualification: NEBOSH Diploma or NCRQ Level 6 (minimum expectation) or equivalent.
- Practical experience conducting risk assessments and applying UK safety management systems (e.g., HSG65).
- Demonstrated experience in customer-facing roles with strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in G Suite packages.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
Desirable skills
- IOSH Chartered status.
- Experience in the Education or Community sectors.
- Experience managing customers to contractual SLAs/KPIs and handling RIDDOR submissions.
- Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Knowledge of AI tools.
This is a full-time role which is hybrid. Mainly remote with visits to customers and team meetings held in Bristol every other month.
