Health & Safety Adviser

Location: Ashington (Hybrid – office)

Salary: Up to £43,282 per annum (car allowance)

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Housing Association for a Health & Safety Advisor to join their Health & Safety team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional looking to play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture across a diverse organisation. The successful candidates will provide expert advice and guidance, carry out audits, investigate incidents and support the continuous improvement of health and safety standards across housing, office and operational environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional health and safety advice to managers, colleagues and contractors.
  • Carry out health and safety audits and maintain audit action plans.
  • Develop, review and monitor risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
  • Support the delivery of Health & Safety training across the organisation.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture throughout the business.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and projects, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Produce reports, analyse data and present findings to stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) with willingness to work towards the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety Adviser or similar Health & Safety role.
  • Strong auditing experience with the ability to manage audit action plans.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

Desirable Experience:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Experience within Social Housing, Property, Construction or a similar environment.
  • Professional body membership (IOSH, IIRSM or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering Health & Safety training.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and COSHH.
