About The Role

JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Advisor

DIVISION: Building

LOCATION: London and South East England

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

Are you a seasoned Health and Safety (H&S) Advisor with a passion for ensuring construction sites operate at peak safety levels? Look no further! GRAHAM is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, construction methods and relevant processes and procedures.

Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, the successful candidate will provide assistance and advice to our London/Southern Building site teams. They will complete regular reviews and support implementation of improvements to the existing H&S procedures.

The post holder should have a proactive and enthusiastic attitude and should be confident interacting with the site teams, other supporting teams and the Client, ensuring effective relationships are established and maintained.

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in advising project management and site staff on safety, health, environmental, and quality matters. Plus, you'll have the chance to conduct audits, investigate incidents, deliver training programs, and much more.

The Health And Safety Advisor Shall

  • Provide support, advice, and guidance to the Project Management team on H&S matters
  • Drive proactive H&S in conjunction with the respective site teams and supply chain members
  • Conduct site Health and Safety compliance and behavioural/ cultural audits
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and high potential observations
  • Assist with and/or deliver relevant training programmes
  • Deliver induction programmes, tool-box talks and briefings as required
  • Review relevant company and subcontractor’s paperwork, including existing procedures and forms
  • Prepare information for regular site bulletins
  • Prepare legislation updates and advisory memos for the site management team and operatives
  • Assist in the preparation and updating of construction phase plans, method statements and risk assessments
  • Be instrumental in encouraging observation reporting
  • Attend and represent the company at relevant industry forums
  • Lead by example
  • From time to time the post holder may be required to also assist with responses to PQQ, Bid, and tender questions

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven H&S experience gained in construction or a construction related discipline
  • Detailed Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation with management and application of the legislation
  • Working towards, or possessing, as a minimum Certified IOSH or equivalent professional qualification
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of construction processes
  • Demonstrate strong communication, numeracy, and literacy skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement across the company

Desirable

  • Formal H&S qualification - NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma
  • Knowledge of a Behavioural Based Safety approach to H&S improvement
